A Message From Your 2026 NAIOP Greater Toronto Area President

Dear NAIOP GTA Members,

It is an honour to serve as your Incoming President of NAIOP Greater Toronto Area for 2026. I am grateful for the opportunity to build on the strong momentum established by the Board and committees, and to work alongside such an engaged and passionate commercial real estate community.

NAIOP GTA continues to be a leading voice for our industry, delivering best-in-class programming and meaningful opportunities to connect. In 2026, we will remain focused on providing relevant and timely insights through our educational events, expanding opportunities for collaboration and networking, and continuing to strengthen our role as a trusted partner in government relations and advocacy on behalf of our members.

The coming year will also mark an important period of evolution for our organization, as NAIOP prepares to transition to a new name and new brand. While more details will be shared in the months ahead, this rebrand represents an exciting opportunity to further strengthen our identity, modernize how we engage with stakeholders, and reinforce our leadership within the commercial real estate industry in the GTA and across North America.

Our signature initiatives, including our industry-leading programming, networking events, the REX Awards, and our Developing Leaders programming, will remain cornerstones of the chapter. We are kicking off this year with our Q1 Breakfast on February 10th, with an economic outlook from Benjamin Tal, Managing Director and Deputy Chief Economist at CIBC Capital Markets, followed by a panel discussion with industry leaders Amy Price, Co-President, BGO and Kevin Leon, President, CEO and Founder of Crestpoint Real Estate Investment Ltd. The conversation will be moderated by Jon Erlichman, Contributor at BNN Bloomberg and Founder of Ticker Take.

In 2026, we will also place an expanded focus on engaging our suburban members, ensuring our content, events, and advocacy efforts reflect the full breadth of the Greater Toronto region. In addition, I am excited to introduce a new Community Engagement Committee focused on giving back and supporting the broader community in a more intentional and impactful way.

With more than 1,300 members locally and over 21,000 across a strong North American network, our chapter is powered by people. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the more than 100 volunteers who contribute their time, energy, and expertise to our Board and committees. Your commitment is what allows our chapter to thrive. I am also deeply appreciative of our industry sponsors. Your continued support makes our work possible and enables us to deliver value to our members year after year.

I would also like to recognize and congratulate our 2027 President-Elect, Brendan Sullivan. I look forward to working closely together as we continue to move the chapter forward with a shared vision for the future.

Finally, thank you to our members for your engagement and trust. I am truly excited about the year ahead and the opportunity to serve our industry. I look forward to connecting with you at our events throughout 2026 and welcome your ideas, feedback, and involvement as we continue to build a strong, inclusive, and impactful chapter together.

Cheers,

Rebecca Askew
