A Message From Your 2025 NAIOP Greater Toronto Area President

It is my honor and pleasure to serve as your 2025 President, alongside an inspiring group of industry professionals who make up the NAIOP GTA Board. I deeply appreciate their commitment to our industry.

In 2025, our industry & region faces many challenges, including the housing crisis, infrastructure issues, congestion, tax policies, and talent acquisition. I believe that NAIOP can and will be a partner in developing solutions on behalf of the Commercial Real Estate industry to create better outcomes for our members and our community.  We have made significant investments to serve as a strong and effective advocate for our industry, working closely with municipal and provincial governments. As the challenges we face grow more complex, we remain committed to delivering even greater value to our members on this front.

NAIOP will continue to lead in creating engaging programming and education, providing meaningful opportunities for knowledge sharing, debate, and solutions.  This year’s programming kicks off with our annual Market Outlook on February 11th, featuring two of our industry’s greatest thought leaders – Sonny Kalsi, Co-CEO of BGO, and Jon Love, Executive Chair & Founder of KingSett Capital. They will share their perspectives on markets and asset classes across Canada and the USA, as well as the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Providing engaging networking opportunities for all members, including mentorship and events designed for our developing leaders, will continue to be a pillar of our chapter’s programming. Not to be missed is our first social event of the year, our annual Ski Day, being held on February 7th at Osler Bluff Ski Club. Planning is also well underway for our biggest event of the year – the REX Awards – which will be held at a new venue, The Ritz-Carlton, on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Mark your calendars and please refer to our Events page for all our upcoming events and programs.

With over 1,300 members, our Greater Toronto NAIOP Chapter continues to be one of the largest across North America. This year, Canada and Toronto will play a significant role across the NAIOP organization. Alex Thomson, from Edmonton and founder of Prevail Consultants, is the first Canadian Chair of NAIOP. September 2025 will see Toronto welcome over 1,500 professionals from across North America for NAIOP’s Annual CRE.Converge conference. This event presents a remarkable opportunity to showcase our city, spotlight our groundbreaking projects and celebrate the talented people driving them to an international audience.

Lastly, and most importantly, I would like to thank our 2025 sponsors for their continued support. Without them, the work we do within our chapter to support our members and industry would not be possible.

I look forward to working closely with the 2025 Board of Directors, committee volunteers, and the teams from Campbell Strategies and Redstone Agency. Special congratulations to Rebecca Askew, Cadillac Fairview, our President-Elect, for her many years on our board and her commitment to lead the chapter in 2026.

Finally, I am exceptionally excited about having the opportunity to serve as your President in 2025. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, and I encourage you to reach out anytime to me or any of the 2025 Board of Directors.
