A Message From Your 2024 Greater Toronto Area NAIOP President

Dear NAIOP GTA Members,

It is my sincere pleasure to be serving as your 2024 President, alongside an outstanding group of industry professionals on the NAIOP GTA Board and a tremendous team of volunteers.

In 2024, the Board of Directors will focus on delivering exceptional programming, professional development, industry advocacy and networking opportunities for all our members and sponsor companies.

We will ensure that insightful and diverse voices and timely perspectives from industry leaders are at the center of our programming, to help our members navigate challenging and continuously evolving industry dynamics.

We will create opportunities to bring together the entire commercial real estate industry – from our most senior leaders to students who are looking to join the industry and everyone in between – to learn from each other, engage with each other, provide mentorship, and celebrate our successes.

We are thrilled to be kicking off our 2024 programming, which started with our highly successful annual Ski Day held at Osler Bluff on February 9th. Our first breakfast forum of the year, which is being held on February 22nd at Lennox Hall at First Canadian Place is an exclusive fireside chat with Andrew Joyner, Managing Director, Head of Multi-Family at Tricon Residential. Led by Casey Gallagher, Vice Chairman of CBRE Capital Markets’ National Investment Team, the breakfast will explore the evolution of Tricon Residential and the current portfolio, their unique perspectives on the market, recent transactions, and what they indicate about current trends. You can register online here!

Additionally, our first Developing Leaders Lunch and Learn is taking place on February 29th and you can register for it online here, followed by our International Women’s Day Event in early March and our next Breakfast Forum in early April. Alongside this we are excited that submissions have opened for our 22nd Annual REX Awards, which will be taking place on June 20, 2024 at the Toronto Region Board of Trade. We look forward to another year of exceptional, high-quality submissions.

We also want to thank all of our NAIOP committees that are hard at work planning for an amazing 2024:

  • Programs Committee who are responsible for running our breakfast programming, our IDEA Exchange, Ski Day, Golf Day and our other diamond events that will be happening this year.
  • Suburban Committee, in charge of running suburban programming that will be taking place in 2024.
  • Developing Leaders Committee will be running the lunch and learn programs, volleyball event, development challenge, mentorship programs, and other social events for our developing leader members.
  • Government Relations Committee will continue to work diligently alongside our consultants to address key issues that are important to our members and sponsor companies on a municipal, provincial and federal level.
  • Education Committee responsible for our CREST Certificate programming, as well as additional education programming.
  • Communications Committee who oversee our marketing and social media efforts.
  • REX Committee who are hard at work planning our 2024 REX Awards.
  • Networking Initiatives Committee, managing our NAIOP Networks program.
  • Industry Engagement Committee who proactively encourage senior industry leaders and sponsor companies to play an active role in our chapter.
  • Sponsorship Committee who manage our annual industry partnerships.
  • Membership Committee who manage our monthly membership, reporting and strategy work.

Lastly, and most importantly, I would like to thank our 2024 sponsors for their continued support. Without them, the work we do at NAIOP to support our members and industry would not be possible.

I look forward to working closely with the 2024 Board of Directors, committee volunteers, and the teams from Redstone and Campbell Strategies. Finally, I’m exceptionally excited about having the opportunity to serve as your President in 2024, I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events, and I encourage you to reach out anytime.

Cheers,

John Stewart
2024 Greater Toronto Area NAIOP President
